Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA Rescues 29 Dogs from Suspected Hoarding Situationin Pomona

Pomona, CA — June 12, 2026 — Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA Humane and Animal Control Officers rescued 29 dogs, including neonatal puppies, from a suspected animal hoarding situation on the 600 block of West Center Street in Pomona.

Officers responded after receiving reports of a strong odor of feces and urine coming from the residence. Upon investigation, officers discovered numerous dogs confined inside the home, including several newborn puppies being housed in a bedroom. The animals were living in severely unsanitary conditions, with many exhibiting signs of illness and neglect.

Several dogs appeared lethargic and in poor physical condition. Veterinary staff are currently evaluating each animal and providing necessary medical treatment and supportive care. “This is one of those heartbreaking cases that reminds us why community reporting is so important,” said Nikole Bresciani, President/CEO.

“These animals were living in conditions that no animal should have to endure. Thanks to concerned neighbors who spoke up, our officers were able to intervene and bring these dogs to safety. Our focus now is on providing them with the medical care, nourishment, and compassion they need to recover.”

The rescued animals were transported to Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA, where they will remain under the care of veterinary and animal welfare staff. Due to the ongoing investigation, additional details regarding the property owner or potential charges are not being released at this time.

Animal hoarding cases often result in overcrowding, inadequate sanitation, insufficient veterinary care, and deteriorating living conditions for both animals and people. Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA encourages residents to report suspected cases of animal neglect, cruelty, or hoarding so that intervention can occur before conditions worsen.
