Hoth (Cyrus)

Written by Hoth’s adopter, Delia:

On May 14, 2024, we unexpectedly lost our sweet boy Wampa. For months we went back and forth on whether we should adopt a new doggo. We met a couple, adoptions fell through...maybe we weren't meant to have another fur baby.

One day, I was scrolling through social media and this sweet face caught my eye. I knew immediately that doggo was meant for us. It was Cyrus. The Baldwin Park Animal Shelter had reposted from the SGVHS.

I showed the hubby, this is the one. He had some similarities to Wampa, its probably what caught my eye. But he was different. We weren't ready to meet him. We had scheduled vacation in a few weeks. So, I called the SGVHS and inquired.

They said Cyrus was available and they didn't hold adoptions. For the next few weeks I avoided looking at the pictures of Cyrus. My heart was set on him and I wasn't ready for a heartbreak on a doggo I didn't know.

Two weeks couldn't come fast enough. I called, Cyrus was still available! We went that day and adopted our sweet boy, Hoth.

Our first meeting was uncomfortable. I did not know how we would react. Would we know he was the one? We waited patiently in the meeting area and Cyrus ran in. It took him some time to greet us. When he did, he placed his head on my lap, and I knew immediately he was ours. He knew what he was doing. Lol.

We brought Hoth home and like with anything new, we felt stress. We wanted to make sure Hoth knew this was his home. That night he jumped into bed with us. He knew, we knew, our home was once again complete.

For the last three months, we have enjoyed training and taking Hoth on his walks. Wampa was a husky, so we know the work it takes to have one. He loves to play ball. He has been to Temecula and did extremely well. He has met human and fur family. Hoth is also a Dodgers fan.

Everyone loves him, he is such a sweet boy. There's no doubt Wampa paw picked Hoth for us.
