Registered Vet Tech – Companion Animals (Dogs, Cats, Small Animals) Full or Part-time
Responsibilities include assisting staff Veterinarian before and during surgery and post op care to ensure the success of surgery and recovery. Performs various pre-operation duties including restraining animal for examinations, procedures and anesthesia. Able to identify signs of illness and follow treatment and medication plans as determined by staff Vet. Prepares and administers vaccines for inoculations. Clinic management includes patient care, sanitation and cleaning of clinical environment. Coordinates and participates in the medical care, disposition, sanitation and disease control of dogs, cats and small pets. Includes physical exams on incoming animals, medication recommendations and maintaining shelter health and cleanliness. Administers vaccines to animals upon intake and maintains accurate medical records. Ability to interact with the public and potential adopters as well as animal care workers and shelter staff. Prior Clinic and Isolation Ward experience helpful. California state certification required. Full-time or Part-time considered - experience required. Essential to have good interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
