History

The San Gabriel Valley Humane Society (SGVHS) was founded by Fannie Thompson Kessler in 1924 as the Alhambra-San Gabriel Humane Society, whose efforts were dedicated to the protection of animals.  The name was changed to the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society in 1959.

For 86 Years, the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society has provided a variety of services to the local communities.  Currently we provide animal control services to the cities of San Gabriel, Monterey Park, Temple City and Azusa.

Services available to all communities include Vaccination Clinics on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2pm until 4pm, and affordable SpayNeuter by appointment.

We provide Food, Shelter and Medical Care to thousands of dogs and cats who are stray and homeless, or have been rescued from abusive conditions or relinquished by their owners.

Please consider giving one of our animals a forever home.  If you’re looking to adopt a life-long furry companion, we invite you to visit our Shelter!  You can also see our adoptable pets by clicking on 'Available Pets' or visiting us on Petfinder.com.
